2026 Pirelli Tire Testing Set for Mexico GP

For the Mexico Grand Prix, Pirelli has selected an unconventional tire allocation: Medium and Soft remain C4 and C5, while Hard has been replaced with C2. The harder tires are slower and provide less grip, whereas the Medium and Soft compounds are faster but wear more quickly, potentially requiring a second pit stop. The Rodriguez circuit is infrequently used and has a slippery surface, which increases tire degradation. Last year, most drivers completed the race with a single pit stop, and the most effective strategy was Medium-Hard, followed by Sainz and Norris. The asphalt gradually becomes covered with rubber, improving grip, but drivers must avoid locking their brakes. After the event, Pirelli will conduct tire tests for 2026 in Mexico and Abu Dhabi, where teams will evaluate the new, narrower tire sets.
