Dana White Reacts to Alex Pereira’s Title Chances
UFC President Dana White has expressed strong confidence in former middleweight and light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, stating that the Brazilian could solidify his legacy as the greatest mixed martial artist of all time if he succeeds in capturing a heavyweight title.
To achieve this historic milestone, Pereira must first overcome a significant challenge in the form of French heavyweight contender Ciryl Gane at UFC White House Freedom 250, scheduled for June 15 in Washington, D.C. The contest will determine the interim UFC heavyweight championship.
White praised Pereira’s exceptional career progression, emphasizing his rare and successful transition across multiple weight divisions after beginning his UFC journey in the middleweight category. According to the UFC president, securing a third championship in a different weight class would represent a landmark achievement in the sport’s history.
He further noted that while many of MMA’s all-time greats have dominated one or two divisions, Pereira now stands on the verge of becoming a champion across three separate weight classes. In White’s view, such a feat would significantly reshape the ongoing debate surrounding the greatest fighter in mixed martial arts history.
“If Alex Pereira becomes a heavyweight champion, it would be an extraordinary accomplishment,” White said. “We’re talking about a fighter who started at middleweight and has moved through multiple divisions while remaining competitive at the highest level. If he captures a third UFC title, it becomes extremely difficult for anyone to dispute his place among the greatest of all time.”
Should Pereira defeat Gane, he would not only add another championship belt to his resume but also further strengthen his legacy as one of the most accomplished and versatile fighters in UFC history.
