Liberty Media Reports Revenue Growth for Formula1 in 2025

Liberty Media, the parent company of Formula1, has released its financial results for the second quarter of 2025, revealing a significant year-over-year increase in revenue. From April to June, Formula1 generated $1.34 billion in total revenue a 35% rise compared to the same period in 2024.

The majority of this amount $1.03 billion came from Formula 1's core revenue streams, including race promotion fees, media rights, and sponsorship deals. For comparison, the same figure stood at $739 million in second quarter of 2024. The growth was partially driven by an expanded race calendar, with nine Grands Prix held in the second quarter of 2025 versus eight during the same period last year.

Other revenue streams rose from $132 million to $194 million, boosted by several contributing factors such as the global theatrical release of F1:The Movie, income from property rentals in Las Vegas, and increased ticket sales for race events.

Operating income before taxes reached $369 million more than double the $165 million recorded in the second quarter of 2024.

As part of its prize money distribution, Formula 1 paid out $513 million to teams during the quarter, up from $435 million the year prior. Cumulative payments to teams in 2025 have so far reached $635 million.

Operating expenses also saw an uptick, attributed to several factors: increased freight costs due to changes in the race calendar, higher commissions and commercial partner servicing expenses, expanded Paddock Club operations driven by rising attendance, greater spending on sponsor activation, higher costs associated with F1 TV as the subscriber base grows, and expenditures linked to the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Additionally, Liberty Media confirmed that it finalized the acquisition of MotoGP on July 3. The motorcycle racing series has now been integrated into the Formula One Group, and its financial performance will be reflected in Liberty Media’s earnings reports starting from the third quarter of 2025.
