Kimi Antonelli reflected on the outcome of qualifying for the Dutch Grand Prix, where the Mercedes driver secured third place. The Italian admitted that he had been targeting pole position, but a mistake at Turn 1 on his final flying lap prevented him from fully extracting the car’s potential.
“Qualifying was quite challenging for me. I was lacking a little bit of pace throughout the session, but I was hoping to make up for it on my final attempt. Unfortunately, I made a mistake at the first corner and lost around two-tenths of a second. It is particularly frustrating because the car had the potential to fight for pole position. Before my final attempt, I genuinely believed we had a chance of fighting for first place. However, after the first sector, it was already clear that I had lost too much time around two-tenths. At that point, it was difficult to fight for pole, but I continued pushing until the end of the lap and managed to recover some of the deficit.”
