Lewis Hamilton Gets His Dream Ferrari F40

Lewis Hamilton has added a  Ferrari F40 to his collection of rare and historic cars, acquiring a 1991 example of one of the most celebrated models in Ferrari’s history.The seven-time Formula 1 World Champion revealed the purchase on social media, describing the F40 as a car he had dreamed of owning since childhood. Hamilton said he began looking for one soon after joining Ferrari and eventually found an example that had remained stored in a garage for more than 30 years.The car was subsequently transported to Maranello, where Ferrari’s engineers and mechanics carried out restoration work over several weeks. The aim was to preserve the character of the original car while returning it to proper running condition.Hamilton’s search was supported by Azimut AHE, which specialises in investments involving historic vehicles. The F40 reportedly retains exceptionally low mileage, with the car said to have covered no more distance than when it originally left the Ferrari factory.Ferrari produced the F40 between 1987 and 1996, with 1,311 examples built. The model features a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8 producing 478 horsepower and has a kerb weight of approximately 1,254kg.With a claimed top speed of 326 km/h, the F40 was the fastest road-going production car in the world when it was introduced. Its lightweight construction, twin-turbocharged engine and uncompromising design subsequently established it as one of Ferrari’s defining modern classics.Hamilton’s newly acquired F40 now becomes another significant addition to his collection, combining Ferrari heritage with a personal connection that dates back to his childhood.
