Max Verstappen Secures 50th Career Pole Position at Singapore Grand Prix

Saturday at the Singapore Grand Prix was packed with incident. Rain delayed the sprint, and only 13 cars made it to the finish. With nine retirements, the race set a new record for the highest number of retirements in a sprint.Max Verstappen, who had secured pole position for the sprint, went on to win the race. George Russell briefly overtook the Red Bull Racing driver at the start but crashed out towards the end of the opening lap.The main qualifying session was also delayed by 30 minutes. Fernando Alonso, Alex Albon, Lance Stroll, Sergio Pérez, Valtteri Bottas and Isack Hadjar were eliminated in Q1. Nico Hülkenberg, Oliver Bearman, Esteban Ocon, Carlos Sainz, Gabriel Bortoleto and Franco Colapinto failed to progress beyond Q2.In the final session, Verstappen set the fastest time with a lap of 1:31.373. None of his rivals managed to beat his benchmark, allowing the Red Bull Racing driver to secure his second pole position of the season and the 50th of his Formula 1 career.On Sunday, Verstappen will share the front row with Charles Leclerc. Lewis Hamilton and Andrea Kimi Antonelli will start from the second row, while Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will line up on the third row.
