Michael Schumacher’s Jordan 191 F1 Debut Car to Be Auctioned at Goodwood

The Goodwood Revival will once again attract the attention of historic motorsport enthusiasts this autumn. One of the highlights of the Bonhams auction, scheduled for 19 September, will be the legendary Jordan-Ford 191 the car in which Michael Schumacher made his Formula 1 debut in 1991.Schumacher recorded seventh place in qualifying for the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix in the Jordan 191, outperforming several more experienced drivers. A total of seven examples of the car were built under the direction of the team's technical director, Gary Anderson. The chassis going under the hammer is 191/3, with a starting price of £325,000 and an estimated sale price of up to £525,000.During the 1991 season, the Jordan 191 was also driven by Andrea de Cesaris, Roberto Moreno, Alessandro Zanardi and Bertrand Gachot. Gachot was replaced by the 22-year-old Schumacher at the Belgian Grand Prix. The chassis being auctioned was previously raced by de Cesaris and was also used by him at the British Grand Prix, where he was involved in an accident following a suspension failure.
