Zak Brown Sets McLaren’s Boldest Goal Yet:Triple Crown and Three World Titles

McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown recently joined renowned British commentator Will Buxton on FOX Sports’ SPEED video podcast to discuss the team’s expanding motorsport programme, which now spans Formula 1, IndyCar and the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). Brown joked that McLaren’s teams seem to perform just fine without him at the circuit, pointing to the Dutch Grand Prix as proof. He was absent from Zandvoort, yet Lando Norris went on to take pole position and win the race. Brown also praised Felix Rosenqvist, who won the Indianapolis 500 in May and will return to Arrow McLaren in 2027. He compared the Swede’s consistency, confidence and experience to the qualities he sees in reigning F1 champion Norris. McLaren’s wider ambition is to complete motorsport’s Triple Crown by winning the Monaco Grand Prix, the Indianapolis 500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The organisation has already achieved victories in all three events at different stages of its history and now wants to repeat the feat in its modern papaya era. However, Brown’s ambitions go even further. McLaren is targeting championship titles in Formula 1, IndyCar and WEC, while continuing to share personnel, experience and expertise across its three racing programmes. Brown said the ultimate objective is to make McLaren one of the world’s most successful and commercially powerful racing organisations. Winning the Triple Crown in papaya colours in a single season would, he added, be an extraordinary achievement.
