Temporary traffic restrictions will be introduced on several streets, avenues and major roads in Baku on September 4 and 5 in connection with the Alufar IRONMAN 70.3 Baku international triathlon.The measures are being implemented to ensure the safety of participants and spectators and to facilitate the orderly conduct of the event.The restrictions will be introduced gradually from 21:00 on September 4 and will remain in effect until 16:00 on September 5.On the Baku–Alat–Gazakh–Georgia state border motorway (M2), starting from the interchange near the Heydar Aliyev Baku Deepwater Jacket Plant at the 25th kilometre, one lane of the opposite carriageway will be allocated for vehicles travelling in the reverse direction.In addition, one lane in the direction of Lokbatan Circle will be designated for public transport.Traffic will also be restricted on the Baku–Alat (M3) motorway, from the 14th kilometre in the direction of Lokbatan Circle towards central Baku, extending to the roundabout located in front of the Sheraton Baku Intourist Hotel.Drivers will be able to use the Lokbatan–Bayil route on the Baku–Alat (M3) motorway as an alternative.The traffic restrictions will be implemented in stages. During the pre-race preparation period, restrictions will be in force from 21:00 on September 4 until 04:59 on September 5. During the main stage of the race, restrictions will remain in effect from 05:00 until 14:30.Following the conclusion of the race, the restrictions will continue from 14:30 to 16:00 on September 5 to allow cleaning and restoration works to be carried out in the affected areas.Drivers and other road users are advised to plan their journeys in advance, take possible congestion on the affected routes into consideration and use alternative roads where appropriate.The Alufar IRONMAN 70.3 Baku will take place in the Azerbaijani capital on September 5, with more than 1,500 participants from 62 countries expected to compete in the international event.
