FIA President Reveals Fresh Update on Formula 1 V8 Engine Return

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem has confirmed that discussions over a potential return of V8 engines to Formula 1 are continuing. If the proposal gains the necessary support, V8 power units could be introduced to the championship as early as 2030 or 2031.The idea has emerged amid criticism of the current generation of hybrid power units, which drivers have described as overly dependent on electrical systems and too complex to manage.According to Ben Sulayem, the FIA is willing to acknowledge mistakes and make adjustments when necessary. He stressed that the governing body is carefully reviewing feedback from teams and power unit manufacturers, but any final decision will require the backing of the majority of manufacturers.The FIA President added that any future engine should be simpler, more affordable, and deliver a more engaging sound while maintaining environmental sustainability through the use of synthetic fuel. The FIA is currently working alongside teams, power unit manufacturers, and drivers to evaluate different concepts for Formula 1's future power unit.
