Camara Dominates Barcelona Qualifying Before Late Red Flag Drama
The Barcelona circuit is familiar to all drivers, allowing them to push at full pace from the very start of qualifying. Rookie Colton Herta was the first to set a competitive benchmark, fresh from his recent Formula 1 outing with Cadillac. His time remained at the top of the standings for much of the session before Nikola Tsolov went nearly half a second faster. Shortly afterwards, Rafael Camara improved the mark even further, posting a lap of 1:24.810.
After switching to fresh tyres, the drivers returned to the track for their final attempts. Championship leader Gabriel Minì and several of his closest rivals improved their pace, but none were able to challenge Camara's benchmark.
With 3 minutes and 41 seconds remaining on the clock, the session was interrupted by red flags following a crash involving Ritomo Miyata at the final corner. The Japanese driver emerged unscathed, although his car sustained significant damage. As marshals cleared the wreckage and repaired the barriers, the stewards began investigating several incidents that could potentially lead to penalties.
