Nikola Tsolov completed his first Formula 1 test at Imola as part of Racing Bulls’ TPC (Testing of Previous Cars) programme, marking a significant milestone in the Bulgarian driver’s career. Tsolov made his first-ever appearance behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car, driving the VCARB 02 used by Racing Bulls last season. The 19-year-old completed approximately 690 kilometres during the test, gaining valuable experience of Formula 1 machinery while also fulfilling the mileage requirement for an FIA Super Licence. Securing the required distance means Tsolov is now eligible to obtain the Super Licence needed to participate in official Formula 1 practice sessions during Grand Prix weekends. Reflecting on his debut, Tsolov expressed his gratitude to Racing Bulls and the Red Bull Junior Programme for giving him the opportunity to take the next step towards Formula 1.
“Today was a very special day for me. I drove a Formula 1 car for the first time as part of the TPC programme, and I am extremely pleased with how everything went. I enjoyed every lap, and it is difficult to put into words what this opportunity means to me.I would like to thank Racing Bulls and the Red Bull Junior Programme for their trust and for giving me this chance. I have worked towards this moment throughout my life, so I am incredibly happy to have finally experienced it. I don’t think I have fully realised yet what we achieved today, but I enjoyed every single lap. Hopefully, I will have another opportunity to get back behind the wheel soon.”
