The Azerbaijan round proved rich in drama, with fans witnessing an eventful sprint race on Saturday and an equally tense feature race on Sunday.
On Saturday, the stewards issued several penalties: Trident rookie Laurens van Hoepen received a 10-second penalty for a collision with Miyata and Lindblad, while Kush Maini (DAMS) was sanctioned for contact with Cordeel, which cost him three positions on the grid for the feature race.
Sunday’s start quickly reshuffled the order. Fornaroli initially took the lead but lost ground after a slow pit stop. Minì and Crawford emerged at the front, exchanging positions multiple times, while Browning was forced to retire.
The standout performance came from Joshua Dürksen: starting only 15th, he charged through the field to challenge Crawford for victory, ultimately finishing just two tenths of a second behind.
Fornaroli received a 10-second penalty for contact with Dunn but dropped only one place, keeping his championship hopes alive. Crawford, however, secured 25 points for his win and moved up to second in the standings.
With only four races remaining in Qatar and Abu Dhabi, the championship battle promises a thrilling and hard-fought conclusion.
