Driver Laura Villars Runs for FIA President

Laura Villars Enters FIA Presidential Race

Swiss racing driver and entrepreneur Laura Villars has announced her bid for the FIA presidency, becoming the third candidate alongside former steward Tim Mayer and incumbent president Mohammed Ben Sulayem.The election is scheduled for the end of the year.

At 28, Villars brings both sporting and business experience. She began her racing career in 2023 in Formula 4 UAE, later competing in Saudi Arabia,where she finished 14th, before securing the women’s title in Ferrari Europe. In 2025, she raced in the Ligier Euro series, collecting two points across seven rounds.

Presenting her manifesto, Villars stressed the need for the FIA to return to its roots as a federation of clubs and license holders.She called for more democratic, transparent, and accountable leadership, with particular emphasis on empowering women and young talent.

Her key priorities include enhancing the role of national clubs,boosting financial transparency, launching the FIA Eco-Performance standard, expanding the “Women in Motorsport” initiative, establishing a Young Leaders Academy, and reinforcing the FIA’s global standing in sustainable mobility and road safety.
