Dunne Wins in Belgium,Takes Title Lead
Dunne takes feature race win as title battle tightens in Belgium
Based on Friday’s qualifying results, Alex Dunne secured pole position for the Feature Race, with Ritomo Miyata lining up second, Roman Stanek third, and Victor Martins—a podium finisher the previous day—starting from fourth.
Notably, championship leader Richard Verschoor and his closest rival Jack Crawford failed to make the top ten and did not start from the front. Also in the mix was Leonardo Fornaroli, who entered the race as a title contender and began from seventh on the grid.
Heavy rain influenced proceedings on race day. Sebastian Montoya lost control and was forced to retire. Meanwhile, Oliver Goethe encountered mechanical issues that ended his race prematurely. Due to a lack of time to remove Goethe’s stalled car from the track, officials red‑flagged the race on lap 22.
As a result, full points were awarded. Alex Dunne emerged victorious and moved into the lead of the Drivers’ Championship. Arvid Lindblad claimed second place, while Roman Stanek completed the podium for the third time this season. Ritomo Miyata achieved his best F2 result by finishing fourth.
Following the race, Dunne leads the championship with 137 points, while Verschoor—who failed to score—remains in second place with 122 points. The next round of the Formula 2 Championship will take place at Hungaroring in one week.
