Former F1 Driver Romain Grosjean to Test Haas Car

Former Formula 1 driver Romain Grosjean, who left the championship following a serious accident in Bahrain in 2020, will return to the wheel of a Haas F1 car for testing.

The team confirmed that on September 26, he will take part in tests of past-spec cars at Mugello, driving the 2023 VF-23. Grosjean commented: “I am incredibly grateful to Gene Haas and Aio Komatsu for the invitation. It’s hard to believe that almost five years have passed since the accident, and I’m thrilled to be back in a Formula 1 car with my old team it’s a very special feeling.”

The tests will also be a reunion with team members who worked with him in 2020. Aio Komatsu will serve as Grosjean’s race engineer, and Dominic Haines, his engineer in 2019–2020, will also join.

Aio Komatsu added: “I’m delighted to see Romain back behind the wheel after five years, especially in one of our cars. This will be a special day for the entire team everyone will come together to witness Romain’s return.”
