From F1 to MotoGP:Steiner Acquires Tech3
Former Haas F1 team principal Gunther Steiner has acquired the Tech3 team in the MotoGP World Championship for $23 million, with the support of Ikon Capital. Beginning in 2026, the consortium led by Steiner will assume management of the outfit, including its Moto3 program.
Steiner will take on the role of Chief Executive Officer, while his partner Richard Coleman will serve as Team Principal. Tech3 founder Hervé Poncharal will remain in charge until the end of the current season, after which he will focus on developing young talent.
Under its new leadership, the team will retain the Tech3 name, continue its partnership with KTM, and remain based in Bormes-les-Mimosas, France.According to Steiner, the project holds significant potential, with his primary goal being the team’s development, the preservation of its legacy, and attracting a new audience to MotoGP.
