Imola in Talks Over Formula 1 Return
In May, Imola hosted the final Emilia Romagna Grand Prix under its current agreement. While organizers had hoped to secure a contract extension, the 2026 Formula 1 calendar was published without a race at the Enzo and Dino Ferrari Circuit.
Still, Imola is not prepared to relinquish its place in Formula 1.According to PlanetF1, the circuit’s promoters remain in talks with Formula 1 management over a potential return in the coming years through a rotation system with another European venue.
The leading candidate for such an arrangement is Spa, whose contract runs through 2031 but requires the race to move to a rotational schedule from 2027 onward. If negotiations prove successful, Imola could reappear on the calendar in 2028 and again in 2030.
For now, however, an agreement appears some way off, as other European circuits including Portimao, Hockenheim, and Barcelona are also seeking to secure Grand Prix slots under similar rotation deals.
