Italian Grand Prix:Antonelli Completes Stunning Comeback to Win at Monza

Kimi Antonelli produced a remarkable comeback at Monza to win the Italian Grand Prix after starting from 19th on the grid.The Mercedes driver was handed a 30-place grid penalty following a power-unit change, but fought his way through the field to secure his seventh Formula 1 victory and become the first Italian to win at Monza since 1966.Pierre Gasly started from pole position after a surprise qualifying performance, but George Russell quickly moved into the lead on lap two. Max Verstappen and Antonelli then joined the battle at the front as the leading drivers repeatedly exchanged positions.The race was interrupted by red flags on lap three after Charles Leclerc crashed heavily at the Parabolica. The Ferrari driver hit the barriers at around 230 km/h, with the FIA recording a peak impact of 50g. Leclerc was able to leave the car unaided before being taken away for a medical check.Following the restart, Antonelli continued his charge through the field. By the second half of the race, he was firmly in contention for victory alongside Russell and Verstappen.Mercedes allowed its drivers to race, resulting in several intense exchanges for the lead. Antonelli eventually overtook Russell on lap 50 and immediately began to pull clear.Russell finished second, giving Mercedes its third one-two finish of the season, while Verstappen completed the podium.Antonelli also set the fastest lap of the race with a 1:23.504 on lap 53.The championship will now head to Madrid, where the next round promises another crucial chapter in the fight for the title.
