Jack Doohan Shifts Gears Toward Haas for 2026 Season

Alpine’s reserve driver, Jack Doohan, may continue his career with Haas next season. The likelihood of his return to Alpine’s main team is decreasing, prompting him to explore alternative options to remain in Formula 1.

According to journalist Chris Medland, Jack’s father, Mick Doohan, has held discussions with Haas team principal Aio Komatsu regarding a potential role as a reserve driver. Haas’s primary drivers, Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman, already have contracts for 2026; however, Bearman risks missing a race due to penalty points, in which case Doohan could step in as his replacement on track.

There is also consideration of a partnership with Toyota and Doohan’s participation in Japan’s Super Formula to maintain his racing form. Such an arrangement would allow him to serve as Haas’s reserve driver, take part in tests of previous-year cars, and be ready to race if needed.

Mick Doohan has been actively negotiating with the team; however, Jack’s return to Alpine this season appears unlikely, leading him to pursue alternative pathways to continue his career.
