McLaren reserve driver Leonardo Fornaroli completed two days of testing in Barcelona as part of the TPC (Testing of a Previous Car) programme, driving the 2023 MCL60.

For the reigning Formula 2 champion, this marked his first experience at the wheel of a Formula 1 car. Over 110 laps (512 km), he worked through different fuel loads and, according to the team, showed consistent progress throughout the test. McLaren also confirmed that Fornaroli will take part in further TPC sessions later in the season.

Fornaroli described the experience as “incredible,” noting that the tests helped him better understand the car’s behaviour and compare real-world sensations with simulator work. He also thanked the team for the opportunity and travelled to Japan to support McLaren during the race weekend.
