Marquez Tops Practice
Current championship leader Marc Marquez continued his strong form by dominating both free practice sessions at the Austrian Grand Prix. Historically, the Red Bull Ring has not been among his most successful circuits, but this time the Spanish rider impressed with a confident and commanding performance that thrilled fans.
The sessions, however, were not without incident. Following a crash involving Fabio Quartararo, the session was temporarily halted to allow for track cleanup. Shortly thereafter, Miguel Oliveira also crashed at the same corner. An investigation was initially launched into Oliveira’s fall, which occurred under yellow flag conditions. However, the inquiry was later dropped after video replays suggested that smoke emitted from Jack Miller’s motorcycle may have contributed to both Quartararo’s and Oliveira’s accidents.
Later, former world champion Jorge Martin also suffered a crash.Though uninjured, he was forced to withdraw from the remainder of the session. Meanwhile, Maverick Viñales, who is still recovering from a shoulder injury sustained at the Sachsenring, remained in the Tech3 garage throughout the day. It remains uncertain whether he will participate in Saturday’s main race.
