Marti Tops F2 Sprint
In the Formula 2 sprint race in Hungary, Jose Maria Marti claimed victory, maintaining the lead from the start. Alex Dunne and Jak Crawford joined him on the podium.
The race took place under hot conditions, with air temperatures reaching +28°C and track temperatures rising to +47°C. There was early drama as Roman Stanek and Gabriele Mini made contact at the start, dropping Stanek to 20th place, while Mini received a 10-second penalty.
Arvid Lindblad challenged Marti for the lead, temporarily passing him on lap 8. However, the Spaniard quickly reclaimed first position. Later in the race, Dunne overtook Lindblad, whose tyres had begun to degrade. Crawford, showing strong pace, also managed to pass Lindblad to secure third place.
A safety car was deployed following technical issues that forced Sebastian Montoya to stop on the main straight. At the restart, Marti held onto his lead and successfully defended against a late challenge from Dunne to take the win. However, the stewards launched a post-race investigation into a possible yellow flag infringement involving Marti and Dunne.
Leonardo Fornaroli finished seventh and retained his lead in the championship standings, though his rivals—Dunne, Crawford, and Browning—narrowed the gap. The fastest lap of the race was set by Mini.
