Max Verstappen Returns to Winning Ways in Italy
Dutch driver Max Verstappen secured victory at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, delivering a commanding performance that earned him his third win of the 2025 season and the 66th of his Formula 1 career. Starting from pole, Verstappen briefly lost the lead at the start but quickly regained control and never looked back.
The reigning champion highlighted the flawless teamwork at Red Bull, praising both the strategic pit stop timing and the car’s performance on the hard tyres, which allowed him to maintain strong pace and pull away in the final laps. His triumph also marked Red Bull’s return to the top step of the podium after a challenging mid-season.
For Verstappen, the Monza win was particularly significant, as it was his first victory since Imola in May and a clear statement of intent as the championship fight continues.
Max Verstappen: “It was a magnificent day for our entire team! On the opening lap, there was a minor setback, but everything went perfectly afterwards we were simply flying on the track. Driving such a car is an absolute pleasure. During the first stint, I was able to fully control the pace, and the timing of our pit stop proved to be flawless. We switched to the hard compound, and thanks to its durability, I was able to push even harder in the closing stages of the race. The team performed at the highest level not only today but throughout the entire weekend. I am extremely happy to take victory here in Monza!
From the very start, it was clear that we had strong pace; I just needed to find the right rhythm. The battle in the pack was intense, but once I was confident in our speed, I reclaimed the lead and never looked back.
Of course, we will aim to fight for more victories on other circuits, but we will take it step by step. This weekend has been truly special and incredibly successful for us!”
