Max Verstappen wins in Baku

MAX VERSTAPPEN WINS THE FORMULA 1 QATAR AIRWAYS AZERBAIJAN GRAND PRIX 2025

Max Verstappen delivered a superb performance on the streets of Baku to claim victory in the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2025. This marked the Dutch driver’s second career win in Baku.

Starting from pole position, the Red Bull Racing driver led all 51 laps, crossing the finish line more than 14 seconds ahead of Mercedes driver George Russell. Williams’ Carlos Sainz secured third place, earning his first podium with the team.

Young Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli finished fourth, while Racing Bulls’ Liam Lawson achieved the best result of his career with fifth place.Verstappen’s teammate Yuki Tsunoda came home sixth, delivering one of Red Bull Racing’s strongest results of the season.

McLaren’s Lando Norris crossed the line seventh, reducing his gap to championship leader Oscar Piastri to 25 points after his teammate crashed out on the opening lap. Piastri’s streak of 42 consecutive points finishes also came to an end in Baku.

Ferrari drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc followed in the next positions, denying McLaren the chance to seal the Constructors’ Championship in Baku. The top ten was rounded out by Racing Bulls’ Ayumu Iwasa.

The trophies were presented by Eldar Azizov, Head of the Baku City Executive Authority; Farid Gayibov, Minister of Youth and Sports; Anar Alakbarov, President of the Azerbaijan Automobile Federation; and Maksud Farzullayev, CEO of Baku City Circuit Operations Company.

Following the race in Baku,Oscar Piastri remains at the top of the championship with 324 points. His McLaren teammate Lando Norris is second with 299, while Verstappen closed the gap with his victory, moving up to 255 points.

Once again, the Baku City Circuit delivered unforgettable drama and excitement, hosting one of the most intense and unpredictable races of the season.
