Mexican Driver Secures Historic Victory in Montreal
Formula 2 once again produced a dramatic and incident-filled sprint race in Montreal, with multiple penalties, collisions and safety car periods shaping the outcome of the event. Much of the early attention centred on Gabriele Mini, who started from pole position but was ultimately unable to convert it into victory.
The race was neutralised twice by the safety car as several drivers became involved in on-track incidents and received penalties. A decisive moment came after one of the restarts, when Noel Leon launched a successful move on Mini to take the lead. The Mexican driver then delivered a composed performance to secure a historic victory, becoming the first Mexican race winner in Formula 2 history.
Mini crossed the line in second place and moved to the top of the championship standings, while Martinius Stenshorne completed the podium in third. Meanwhile, Joshua Durksen and Nikola Tsolov endured difficult races, losing valuable positions following penalties and race incidents.
