Pierre Gasly produced a memorable qualifying performance at Monza, securing the first pole position of his Formula 1 career. The achievement came six years after the Frenchman claimed his maiden F1 victory at the same circuit with AlphaTauri.Gasly was delighted with his performance, explaining that he felt comfortable in the car from the opening lap and was able to build his pace throughout the session before delivering when it mattered most.
“Today was fantastic. Qualifying went extremely well, and I felt comfortable in the car right from my first lap in Q1. I was able to improve progressively in every session, and I managed to put together a very strong final lap, so I’m extremely pleased.I’ve been waiting for this opportunity throughout my nine years in Formula 1. I’ve always wanted the chance to fight for pole position, and to achieve it here in Monza makes it even more special. This is where I took my first F1 victory, and now I’ve claimed my first pole at the same circuit. I think Monza really is a special place for me.A huge thank you to the entire team. They gave me an incredibly quick car today. Now we need to see what tomorrow brings, but we will give everything we can to fight for the best possible result. I’ll return home to Milan tonight, and tomorrow morning we’ll be back out there for another race.”
