Pirelli Prepares 2026 F1 Tyres at Mugello
Pirelli has completed its two-day testing program at Mugello, part of the preparations for the 2026 Formula 1 season. Ferrari took part on the final day, with Charles Leclerc and reserve driver Zhou Guanyu sharing driving duties.
Rain affected much of the running, limiting Leclerc to 25 laps on intermediate tires in the morning, with a best time of 1:34.914. In the afternoon, Zhou stepped in and completed 75 laps. After starting on wet and intermediate compounds, he switched to slicks as conditions improved, recording the day’s fastest time of 1:22.012.
Reflecting on the session, Pirelli’s Head of Motorsport, Mario Isola, said: “The weather disrupted our original plan. We had intended to complete long runs on the hardest compounds, but instead we focused on wet tires and collected valuable data. After the Mexican Grand Prix, we will have two further test days to finalize the selection of soft compounds.”
Isola also expressed his appreciation to Ferrari and Haas for their cooperation and support across the two days of testing.
