Rain Chaos Hits Pirelli Tests at Suzuka

During the second day of testing for the 2027 tyre prototypes by Pirelli at Suzuka, work focused almost exclusively on wet-weather compounds, as the conditions left no alternative.

Isack Hadjar (Red Bull Racing) and Arvid Lindblad (Racing Bulls) tested intermediate and wet tyres. The morning began with a few installation laps on slick tyres before rain set in. By midday, running continued on intermediate tyres, before heavy rain forced a switch to full wet compounds later in the day. In the evening, the test session was ultimately halted as the circuit became flooded.

Hadjar completed 34 laps with a best time of 1:33.846, while Lindblad completed 51 laps with a best time of 1:35.490.

The next tests will take place on 9–10 April at Fiorano with Scuderia Ferrari, where wet tyres will also be evaluated under artificial track wetting if necessary. Further tests are scheduled for 14–15 April at the Nürburgring, featuring Mercedesand McLaren.
