Wolff:Mercedes Ready to Battle at Azerbaijan GP

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff affirmed that the team is approaching the Azerbaijan Grand Prix with full focus and determination, confident in its ability to challenge at the front of the grid. He underlined that the clear objective for the remainder of the season is to secure second place in the Constructors’ Championship a goal that demands stronger and more consistent performances than those seen at the previous round in Monza.

Wolff noted that with the European leg of the campaign now complete, Formula 1 enters its decisive final phase, where the fight for every point becomes increasingly critical. With three teams locked in a tight battle for second place, he stressed that even the smallest mistakes over the next races could prove decisive in shaping the final standings.

Looking ahead to Baku, Wolff highlighted the distinctive challenges of the street circuit, which features long high-speed straights, sharp 90-degree corners, and a technical section around the city’s historic fortress. He emphasized that such a layout places significant demands on both the machinery and the drivers, making reliability, strategy, and focus more important than ever.

“We know how fierce the competition is this year, and we understand that every decision — from engineering choices to split-second calls on track can decide the outcome. If we maximize our performance across all areas, we have every chance of fighting at the sharp end of the grid this weekend in Baku,” said Wolff.
