2026 Formula 1 Rules Revealed: A New Era for F1
A New Era to Begin in Formula 1 in 2026...
The 2026 Formula 1 season will mark the beginning of a new era in the championship’s history, bringing significant changes to both power units and chassis design. One of the most notable shifts will be the increase in the weight of hybrid systems.
From 2026 onwards, the MGU-H system will be removed. This component previously harvested energy from exhaust gases and transferred it to the electric motor. In its absence, energy recovery will rely solely on braking, a method that does not offer consistent efficiency across all circuits.
Increased Freedom in Aerodynamics
Under the new regulations, electric power assistance will be deactivated after 345 km/h. However, in "override" mode, this limit can be increased to 355 km/h, allowing for short bursts of additional performance.
Although the 2026 season is still some time away, teams, engineers, and the FIA’s technical department have already shifted into high gear, working intensively to prepare for the upcoming changes.
Smarter Energy Management Becomes Key
Speed alone will no longer be enough to win races. Intelligent energy usage will become a decisive factor in securing victory. Success will not only depend on what happens on the track, but also on how data is interpreted and how effectively the battery is managed. Races will be won on the dashboard as much as on the asphalt.
