Argentina has taken another step towards bringing Formula 1 back to the country, with President Javier Milei discussing the possibility of hosting a Grand Prix with FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem during the FIA Americas Congress 2026 in Buenos Aires.Milei and Ben Sulayem jointly opened the congress, where Argentina’s ambitions to attract major FIA championships featured prominently in discussions about the future of motorsport across the Americas.The Argentine president highlighted the country’s strong motorsport heritage and said Argentina has the infrastructure and potential required to host both Formula 1 and the World Rally Championship.Ben Sulayem expressed support for Argentina’s ambitions, although the meeting does not guarantee the country a place on the F1 calendar. Argentina would still need to secure the necessary financial backing, meet all required standards and submit an official proposal before its return could become a realistic possibility.
