75 Years of Glory:Title-Winning F1 Cars Return to Silverstone

This weekend, Silverstone is hosting a motorsport festival dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the first British Grand Prix, which took place at the circuit in 1950.To mark the occasion, a remarkable collection of Formula 1 championship-winning cars has been assembled on the iconic starting grid from Giuseppe Farina’s Alfa Romeo 158 to Max Verstappen’s Red Bull RB18.

In addition to title-winning machines, the event features technically groundbreaking chassis that have influenced the evolution of the sport from the earliest cars employing ground effect to those with innovative suspension systems and unconventional steering designs. Together, they serve as a reminder that some of Formula 1’s greatest progress has stemmed from bold and pioneering ideas.

Among the standout cars on display are the BRM P578 of Graham Hill, the Lotus 25 of Jim Clark, Nigel Mansell’s Williams FW14B, Michael Schumacher’s Benetton 191, and Fernando Alonso’s Renault R25. The festival also pays tribute to John Surtees the only person to win world championships on both two and four wheels. Representing him are a Team Surtees Formula 1 car and an MV Agusta racing motorcycle.

Racing dynasties are also honoured, with cars from both the Hill and Rosberg families featured side by side. At the front of the group photo taken from above, five iconic cars can be seen collectively responsible for 24 world titles: the Alfa Romeo 158, Maserati 250F, Tyrrell 006, McLaren MP4/2B, Mercedes W11, and Red Bull RB18.

All of these historic machines will be on display in the Silverstone paddock throughout the weekend, offering fans a unique opportunity to trace the evolution of Formula 1 from its earliest days to the present.
