Alex Albon Visits South Africa as Williams Launches Mission 1% Fan Initiative

Williams driver Alex Albon travelled to South Africa with the team's title partner, Super Group, as part of the Mission 1% initiative, a programme designed to bring Formula 1 closer to fans around the world.The concept behind the campaign is straightforward: only around one percent of Formula 1 supporters have the opportunity to experience a Grand Prix in person. Through Mission 1%, Williams aims to connect with fans in regions where interest in the sport continues to grow, giving them a chance to meet the team's drivers and experience Formula 1 beyond the race weekend.Albon's visit marked a significant moment for South African motorsport. It was the first time since the early 1990s that an active Williams Formula 1 driver had visited the country, recalling the team's successful history at the iconic Kyalami circuit, where Alain Prost claimed victory for Williams in the 1993 South African Grand Prix.During his visit, Albon met with Super Group CEO Neal Menashe, attended an exclusive event for competition winners, collaborated with South African content creators, and took part in a series of interviews with both local and international media. The Williams driver also spent time with fans, giving many of them a rare opportunity to meet a current Formula 1 driver and engage with the team. Reflecting on the trip, Albon praised the passion of South African fans, saying the country had exceeded his expectations.
