Alpine Staying in F1,Confirms Renault CEO
Francois Provost Confirms Alpine’s F1 Future, Sets Sights on 2026 Breakthrough
Renault’s newly appointed CEO, François Provost, has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to Formula 1, putting to rest any speculation surrounding Alpine’s future in the sport. Provost officially succeeded Luca de Meo last week, prompting questions about potential changes in Renault’s motorsport strategy.
Speaking on Alpine’s position within F1,Provost made it clear:
“Formula 1 remains a central pillar of our strategy to develop and elevate the Alpine brand — and I have no plans to change that. Our number one priority is performance. We must see progress this season, and our clear goal is a major step forward in 2026 with the new car. That’s the challenge we are focused on in Formula1.”
Renault is set to end the development and production of its in-house Formula 1 power units at the conclusion of the current season. From 2026 onwards, Alpine will compete using customer engines supplied by Mercedes — ushering in a new technical era for the French team under the upcoming F1 regulations.
With new leadership at the helm and a fresh engine partnership on the horizon, Alpine is entering a defining period as it looks to reclaim competitive ground and position itself for long-term success in Formula 1.
