Aston Martin Readies Major AMR26 Upgrade
Aston Martin is preparing a significantly revised version of its AMR26 challenger, with the upgraded car reportedly set to make its debut at the Hungarian Grand Prix, according to Italian media reports.
Under the direction of Adrian Newey, the car's design is said to be undergoing an extensive overhaul. Rather than introducing a series of incremental updates, the team's engineers have opted for a comprehensive redesign of the chassis concept, with only the front suspension expected to remain unchanged from the current specification.
At the same time, Honda engineers continue to work on improving the power unit in an effort to reduce the performance deficit to rival manufacturers. Particular attention is also being paid to enhancing the integration between the engine and chassis, an area believed to be responsible for several of the current car's shortcomings.
With just over a month remaining until the Hungarian Grand Prix, the debut of the upgraded AMR26 is expected in the near future.
