Audi Unveils Formula 1 R26 Concept Debut Set for 2026
The Audi works team, preparing for its Formula 1 debut in 2026, has revealed the first images of its R26 concept car. The released renders do not yet feature sponsor logos, but they showcase the team’s distinctive style and design direction. The full launch is scheduled for January 2026.
The team, currently competing under the Sauber name, will retain its base in Hinwil, Switzerland. Power units for the project are being developed in Neuburg, Germany, while an additional engineering hub will be established in Bicester, United Kingdom. The driver lineup will consist of Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto.
Gernot Dollner, Chairman of the Board of Management at Audi, emphasized that the brand’s entry into Formula 1 is part of its broader global transformation:
“Formula 1 represents speed, technology, and emotion. For Audi, this is more than just a sporting venture it is a strategic move aimed at strengthening the brand’s innovation and recognition across key markets.” Mattia Binotto,Head of the Audi F1 Project, stated that the team’s goal is to fight for the championship by 2030:
