Azerbaijan GP:Verstappen Ahead of Russell,Sainz
Qualifying in Baku resembled a marathon:nearly two hours of action, six red flags, crashes, penalties, and an unexpected starting grid. Piastri and Leclerc both crashed, Ocon was disqualified but later allowed to race. Verstappen once again claimed pole position, joined on the front row by Sainz, who delivered Williams’ best result since 2021.
The race took place on a dry track, with most drivers starting on Medium or Hard tyres. Early laps saw contact between several cars, while Piastri and Alonso received penalties for false starts. An early Safety Car only added to the chaos.
The rest of the race unfolded through a series of pit stops and on-track battles: Russell moved forward, Lawson led a “DRS train,” Hamilton fought with Leclerc and Norris, while Sainz held firm in the top three.
At the finish, Max Verstappen completed a “Grand Slam” taking pole position, leading every lap, setting the fastest lap, and winning the race. Russell finished second, and Sainz secured Williams’ first podium in four years.
Next up is Singapore, where the Constructors’ Championship could be decided.
