Rookie Mistake Costs Doohan in Chinese GP Sprint
Alpine’s Jack Doohan Penalized for Incident in Chinese GP Sprint Race
Alpine driver Jack Doohan has received a penalty following an incident during the sprint race at the Chinese Grand Prix. The Australian rookie was handed time and license penalties after a collision with fellow driver Gabriel Bortoleto.
As RaceBrief.com reports, the incident occurred at Turn 14, where Doohan made contact with Bortoleto, causing both drivers to fall to the back of the field. After reviewing the situation, stewards deemed Doohan responsible and issued a 10-second time penalty. In addition, two penalty points were added to his FIA Super Licence — the first of his Formula 1 career.
The incident at Turn 14 wasn’t the only contact involving Doohan. A separate on-track moment between Jack Doohan and Liam Lawson was also investigated, but the stewards decided no further action was necessary in that case.
