Crawford Takes the Win in Silverstone
Rain-Soaked Sunday Halts Formula 3 Race at Silverstone
Adverse weather conditions at Silverstone on Sunday morning led to the Formula 3 race being red-flagged after 12 laps. Heavy rain created challenging conditions for both drivers and teams, while spectators came well-prepared with umbrellas, raincoats, and waterproof footwear. Due to the wet track, all drivers started the race on wet-weather tyres.
Victor Martins, who started from pole position at the British round, was unable to hold his lead. Instead, Jak Crawford, who began from third on the grid, took control of the race, overtaking both Martins and Dunne. Drivers such as Montoya, Duerksen, Browning, and Lindblad also changed positions during the opening laps. The most intense battles occurred within the midfield group.
As the race approached its final stages, the rain intensified once again. After Duerksen, from the AIX Racing team, spun on track, the final laps were completed behind the safety car.
The victory ultimately went to Jak Crawford, whose performance elevated him to second place in the championship standings.
Taylor Barnard finished second, and Luke Browning claimed the third podium spot.
Championship leader Richard Verschoor finished in seventh place, which was enough for him to retain his lead in the Drivers' Championship.
