Alpine Appoints Steve Nielsen as Team Manager, Replacing Otmar Szafnauer

Alpine F1 Team has appointed Steve Nielsen as its new Team Manager, filling the leadership vacancy left by Otmar Szafnauer. The 61-year-old will officially begin his new role on September 1, overseeing the team's day-to-day operations and reporting directly to Flavio Briatore.

Nielsen brings a wealth of experience, having previously served as Sporting Director at Renault during the team’s back-to-back World Championship wins in 2005 and 2006.

Throughout his career, he has worked with several Formula 1 teams, including Lotus, Tyrrell, Honda, Arrows, Caterham, Toro Rosso, and Williams. In recent years, he has also held key positions within FIA and FOM.

In addition to Nielsen, Alpine has made several other high-profile hires. Chris Midgley, formerly of Ferrari, has been appointed as the team’s new Head of Aerodynamics.
