Ferrari Unveils the Innovative SF-26
Ferrari has unveiled the SF-26, its first car developed under the comprehensively updated Formula 1 regulations for 2026. The presentation lasted only a minute and a half and was accompanied by a brief press release; however, this minimalism conceals an extensive amount of work.
The SF-26 is the 72nd Formula 1 car produced by Ferrari. The team emphasizes that the new rules required a complete redesign of the car’s concept from the chassis structure to the power unit. The main objectives were reducing weight, increasing efficiency, and incorporating active aerodynamics.
Fred Vasseur describes the SF-26 as the beginning of a “new era” for the Scuderia. The team will begin collecting initial data in Barcelona as part of its preparation for the season opener.
Engineers note that the project proved particularly demanding. Loïc Serra speaks about the lengthy search for the optimal concept and the need for a flexible platform capable of supporting future development. Enrico Gualtieri highlights that the power unit has been almost entirely redesigned: the MGU-H has been removed, the electrical component has grown significantly, and sustainable fuel has been introduced.
The drivers also expect a challenging season. Charles Leclerc remarks that the new rules require a much deeper understanding of energy management systems. Lewis Hamilton admits that he has never encountered changes of this scale and describes his involvement in the SF-26’s development as one of the most engaging experiences of his career.
Ferrari enters the 2026 season with a clean slate and major ambitions, driven by the strong support of its passionate fans.
