FIA Holds Annual Drivers’ Briefing

On November 27 in Qatar, the FIA held its annual meeting with drivers and stewards, focused on clarifying racing regulations and ensuring consistency in penalties. The central topic was the updated “Driving Standards Guidelines” (DSG), designed to clearly define what is permissible on track.

The discussion was based on several notable incidents from the season from the Piastri–Antonelli clash to situations involving Sainz, Lawson, Norris, Leclerc, and Verstappen.

Drivers highlighted several key points:

Strengthen compliance with yellow flags and consider additional safety measures;

Prefer post-race reviews for contentious incidents;

Recognize that not all scenarios can be covered in the regulations, emphasizing the need for an experienced driver among the stewards;

Clarify the expected behavior under blue flag situations.

The FIA noted the constructive nature of the discussion. The feedback will be considered in future DSG updates following consultations with the GPDA. No changes are planned for the remaining two rounds of the 2025 season.
