Formula 1 Confirms 35% Reduction in Carbon Footprint
Formula 1 has announced a 35% reduction in its carbon footprint compared to 2018 levels, reaffirming its commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2030.
According to the latest sustainability report, the championship has made substantial progress through improvements in logistics, greater use of sustainable aviation and marine fuels, and increased reliance on renewable energy across teams and event operations. These measures have helped reduce emissions by nearly 80,000 tonnes of CO2 over recent years.
Formula 1 also revealed that alternative energy solutions were used at every European Grand Prix in 2025, further lowering the environmental impact of race weekends. The achievement comes despite the expansion of the championship calendar to 24 races.
Formula 1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali said the sport remains on course to meet its 2030 net-zero target, crediting the combined efforts of the FIA, teams, partners and race promoters for the progress made so far.
