Fortescue Zero Takes Over DS Penske Ahead of Formula E’s GEN4 Era

Formula E will welcome a new Australian-owned team for the 2026/27 season, with Fortescue Zero Racing & Innovation Team taking over the Penske Autosport operation formerly known as DS Penske.Fortescue Zero has acquired the team and plans to make history as the first Australian-owned outfit to compete in Formula E, subject to approval from the FIA and Formula E Operations.The move marks a new chapter for Fortescue Zero, which already has deep ties to the championship. The company has developed Formula E’s PIT BOOST rapid-charging technology and has been involved in electric racing technology for more than a decade.For the GEN4 era, the new team will run Jaguar powertrains, joining Jaguar’s factory outfit and Envision Racing as a customer of the manufacturer. This will bring the number of Jaguar-powered cars on the 2026/27 grid to six.The driver line-up has yet to be confirmed. Taylor Barnard is expected to remain with the team, but his future is still subject to contractual discussions following the ownership change. Arrival of Fortescue Zero adds a major new name to the Formula E grid as the championship prepares to enter the high-performance GEN4 era.
