From Pole to Victory: Antonelli Delivers Perfect Monaco Weekend

Kimi Antonelli delivered a commanding performance to win the Monaco Grand Prix, converting pole position into a lights-to-flag victory on the streets of Monte Carlo. The Mercedes driver controlled the race throughout and completed the first Grand Slam of his Formula 1 career by securing pole position, leading every lap, setting the fastest lap, and taking the chequered flag.

The complexion of the race changed dramatically in the opening stages when Max Verstappen was forced to retire with a technical issue, eliminating one of Antonelli’s main rivals. The event was further shaped by a series of penalties for pit-lane speeding offences and multiple Safety Car interventions that repeatedly disrupted the rhythm of the race.

A major turning point came with ten laps remaining when Lance Stroll crashed, prompting another Safety Car period. The drama intensified moments after the restart as Charles Leclerc hit the barriers at the final corner, triggering a red flag and bringing the race to a temporary halt.

Following an extended suspension, the race resumed with a standing restart, but Antonelli remained unshaken under pressure. The Italian maintained his advantage and comfortably secured victory, further underlining his growing status as a championship contender.

Lewis Hamilton finished second to equal his best result of the season, while Isack Hadjar claimed an impressive third place, securing his first podium of the year. Racing Bulls also celebrated a milestone result, with both Hadjar and Liam Lawson finishing in the points for the first time this season.

The triumph marked Antonelli’s fifth consecutive victory and extended his advantage at the top of the Drivers’ Championship, giving him valuable momentum heading into the next round in Barcelona.
