George Russell Wins Dutch GP Sprint as Leclerc Beats Norris to Second

George Russell secured a convincing victory in Saturday’s Dutch Grand Prix Sprint at Zandvoort. The Mercedes driver maintained the lead from the start and controlled the race throughout. The main battle was for second place. Charles Leclerc closed the gap to Lando Norris in the closing stages and, at the start of the final lap, used his ERS advantage to overtake the McLaren driver at Turn 1. Leclerc ultimately finished second, while Norris completed the podium in third. Kimi Antonelli put Norris under pressure until the chequered flag but was unable to make a successful move. Oscar Piastri finished fifth, with Max Verstappen taking sixth. The Sprint was not without its problems. Nico Hulkenberg was forced to return to the pits due to technical issues and lost a significant amount of time. Sergio Perez also started from the pit lane and joined the race with a substantial deficit. For Russell, the victory marked his third Sprint win of the season and gave him the perfect start to the Dutch Grand Prix weekend.
