Horner Could Rejoin F1 in 2026
Christian Horner has officially concluded his long-standing career with Red Bull, receiving a substantial compensation package estimated by various sources to be between 80 and 100 million US dollars. However, according to Sky Sports, the sum could have been even greater, but Horner deliberately declined part of the payout in order to shorten the duration of his mandatory gardening leave, which will now end in April 2026. This decision paves the way for his return to Formula 1 much earlier than originally anticipated.
Sky Sports correspondent Craig Slater clarified that Horner intends to resume active work in the paddock no later than the summer of 2026. While this will not take place at the very start of the season, the former Red Bull team principal is confident that he will be able to secure a significant role with another team once the right opportunity arises.
According to the journalist, Horner still feels he has the energy and ambition to contribute to Formula 1.At 51 years old, he possesses not only vast experience but also the financial means to consider various career paths. In particular, the paddock is rife with speculation that Horner may be exploring the possibility of acquiring a stake in one of the existing teams such as Alpine or Haas.
Thus, Christian Horner’s departure from Red Bull does not signify the end of his journey in Formula 1,but rather the beginning of a new chapter. His potential return as a co-owner or team principal elsewhere could significantly influence the balance of power in the championship in the years to come.
