Lando Norris Ready to Push Limits in Championship Chase

Lando Norris is showcasing impressive form in the second half of the season, having secured three victories in the last four races. This strong run has allowed the British McLaren driver to close the gap to his teammate Oscar Piastri to just nine points in the drivers’ standings. Despite a challenging start to the year, Norris points to clear progress both from the team and in his own performance and looks ahead with growing confidence.

"I genuinely feel confident, and I like the direction we’re heading in," Norris said. "Of course, the season hasn’t been without its difficult moments. I made mistakes, and the team didn’t always get everything right either. But we’ve learned, we’ve improved, and now I’m enjoying racing much more. We’re still approaching each weekend with a focus on the race at hand, taking it one step at a time. The goal is obviously to fight for wins and score points consistently, but maintaining our attention to detail remains key."

Speaking about his intra-team battle with Piastri, Norris emphasized the positive side of their rivalry: "The competition between Oscar and me adds excitement to every race. We both want to perform at our best while still working for the good of the team. I think this kind of healthy rivalry is one of the things pushing McLaren forward."

He also noted that upcoming races will likely be far more competitive than in previous seasons: "Last year, there were a few races where we had a significant advantage. That’s not the case anymore our rivals have improved. Red Bull, Mercedes, and Ferrari are all showing strong pace.We have to push to the limit if we want to keep winning. Repeating last year’s dominant win with a 20-second gap will be nearly impossible, but we’re always aiming for the best result, and ideally, more one-two finishes for McLaren."

Reflecting on earlier mistakes this season, Norris was candid: "Canada stands out I took too much of a risk, and it cost me valuable points. At the time, it felt like the right call, but looking back, I could’ve handled it more sensibly. That said, I don’t have regrets. It was my decision, and every experience like that is part of my growth as a driver.Taking responsibility and moving forward is important. It’s in those difficult moments that you really learn, and that’s what helps shape your character and make you stronger."

As the championship enters its final phase,Norris remains focused, determined to stay motivated and seize every opportunity to fight for the best possible results while always keeping the team’s goals in mind.
