McLaren have confirmed that reigning Formula 1 World Champion Lando Norris has signed a new long-term contract that will keep him with the team through at least 2030. Norris’ relationship with McLaren dates back to 2017, when he joined the team’s junior programme. He made his F1 debut in 2019 and has since become the most experienced Grand Prix driver in McLaren’s history, with 163 starts. The 26-year-old has recorded 13 victories, 18 pole positions and 48 podium finishes, with the biggest success of his career coming last season when he secured his maiden Formula 1 World Championship.Norris announced the contract extension himself during McLaren’s annual Open Day at the team’s Technology Centre. As part of the celebrations, McLaren also gifted him the MCL39, the car he drove during his championship-winning 2025 campaign.
“McLaren is my home, and I’m incredibly happy to continue with the team until at least 2030. We set out to bring McLaren back to the front, and we achieved that. Now we want to keep pushing and win even more,” Norris said.
Team Principal Andrea Stella praised Norris’ contribution to McLaren’s rise, highlighting his speed, consistency, maturity and commitment to the team.
McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown also welcomed the agreement, pointing to Norris’ role in the team’s resurgence from the back of the grid to championship contenders.
The partnership that began with a young prospect in 2017 will now continue into a new era — with Norris entering his next chapter at McLaren as a Formula 1 World Champion.
